Walking around Iowa during the month of March, you'll notice a lot of talk about rabbits. From rabbit gumbo and rabbit jambalaya to Miss Bunny…it's time for the annual Iowa Rabbit Festival. Held annually in March, the Rabbit Festival is a one-of-a-kind event that celebrates the economic and tasty impact that these furry creatures have on Louisiana’s economy. In true Louisiana festival style, the Rabbit Festival kicks off with the crowning of Miss Bunny, who will go on to represent the festival at other state-wide festivals and competitions.
In addition to rabbits, the festival also features live music, and everyone gets involved. The festival will have its annual parade, which will roll on Saturday, March 20, at 10 a.m. While you’re enjoying great Cajun music, be sure to get your fill of some great rabbit delicacies. Sample the wares at one of the many food booths, or during the Rabbit Festival Cook-off, which brings Saturday to a boil, beginning at 7 a.m., with the judging at noon.
Festival hours are Fri. 5 p.m. – midnight, Sat. 10 a.m. – midnight and Sun. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults, $2 for children 6-12, and children younger than 6 get in free.
